1. Porcelain tiles are non-porous

Porcelain is virtually impervious to water - there is no need to use sealants. As water cannot penetrate the surface of the tile, it will not be damaged unlike natural stones. If flooded, the tiles simply need to be dried and cleaned, where other materials would need to be replaced. In addition porcelain tiles are the most appropriate flooring type for under floor heating.

2. Porcelain tiles are very dense and strong

Porcelain has superior chip resistance, and is more durable and stronger than granite. It is so strong that is frequently used in car and boat showrooms, as well as external driveways.

3. Porcelain tiles are extremely resistant to abrasion

There is no surface glaze to wear through, so the appearance will stay the same for the life of the tile. This is why porcelain is specified for high traffic commercial and industrial applications such as airports, rail stations, shopping malls, department stores, restaurants, hotels, offices and educational buildings.

4. Porcelain tiles are highly frost resistant

Porcelain tolerates sub zero temperatures. This important quality makes it an ideal solution for external applications such as cladding, patios, conservatories, swimming pools and hard landscaping in cold climates.

5. Porcelain tiles are extremely hygienic

Because porcelain is impervious it is extremely hygienic, so it is often specified for areas requiring rigorous hygiene regimes, such as clinics and hospitals, medical practices, laboratories and beauty salons.

6. Porcelain tiles are highly resistant to chemicals

Porcelain is impervious to acids, alkalis, strong detergents and solvents - nothing can penetrate the surface of the tile to damage it. This is an important attribute for laboratories, stores and testing areas.

7. Porcelain tiles are extremely low maintenance

Unlike natural stone, porcelain is virtually maintenance free and does not require sealing and waxing. Porcelain tiles need only to be cleaned with water and normal detergents, which leads to significant savings in labour and materials over the life of installed walls and floors.

8. Porcelain tiles are environmentally friendly

Made from natural raw materials with minimal waste, which is recycled back into the manufacturing process, porcelain contains no chemicals such as waterproofing agents, varnishes or resins. Unlike natural stone, it is not polished using lead and does not give off any gasses when exposed to flame.
