Notting Hill Product Story

With its substantial veining, Geologica is a bold stone-effect range bursting with character. Available in Polished, Natural and Structured finishes Geologica can be specified in six sizes up to 600 x 1200 mm. Five natural colours are available - Chelsea, Knightsbridge, Mayfair, Notting Hill and Richmond - with each displaying the authentic stone formations synonymous with architectural stoneware. The Structured finish, in particular with its linear contours, takes on a unique quality and can be used creatively to add interest to a monochrome colour palette. A coordinating honeycomb three-dimensional mosaic adds versatility and is perfect for a feature wall. Geological is suitable for interior and exterior application and provides a virtually maintenance free and water-resistant, stone-effect surface. Notting Hill is part of our Stone-effect Collection.

Understanding Pendulum Data

The HSE Approved Pendulum Test accurately replicates the Dynamical Coefficient of Friction (COF) or 'Heel Slip' on floor surfaces and is designed to replicate a pedestrian heel strike, the point at which most slips occur.

The pendulum test readings obtained are referred to as either the Slip Resistance Value (SRV) or Pendulum Test Value (PTV). When the test is operated properly, the PTV should be interpreted as shown in the table below. This table relates to pedestrians walking in a straight line on a level surface. It can be used to accurately test the slip potential on dry or contaminated floors.

PTVSlip Potential

25 - 35Moderate
36 +Low

See British Standard BS 7976-2 for more information on conducting Floor Pendulum Testing on pedestrian surfaces. Pendulum Test Certificate available on request.

Understanding Ramp Test Data

DIN Standard Ramp Testing (DIN 51130) is an alternative to Pendulum Testing and generally categorised as an 'off-site' activity because of the size and complexity of the equipment required to carry out the test. The Slip Resistance Values (RSV) are factory gate values (based on supplied tiles) and categorised using the Ramp Test (DIN 51130) method which is commonly used by European factories. In this method, a lubricated inclined platform is adjusted to a gradually increasing gradient, and the angle is measured at which a person walking on it slips.

We have deliberately not included the ramp test angles on this page as this information can be confused with the angle that a floor may be safely set to, which is incorrect. The shod test results are quoted as an R Rating value from R9 to R13, which relates to the ramp angle.

R10Normal
R11Good

See the Health and Safety Executives website for more information regarding the Ramp Test procedure. Ramp Test Certificate available on request.
