Avorio Product Story
Fitting perfectly with today’s architectural trend for industrial materials, Urbe is a contemporary concrete-effect range that is available in six cool shades. Ten sizes are available, including the extra large 1000 x 3000 mm format that looks stunning when used as an internal or external wall covering. Urbe can also be specified in 20 mm thick slabs that can be laid on pedestals or used for outdoor applications, with or without adhesive. As with all our porcelain tiles, Urbe is suitable for use with underfloor heating systems creating a backdrop that displays that industrial feel whilst remaining both comfortable and warm to the touch. Each shade also comes in ‘Weave’, a subtle 600 x 600 mm decor tile which can be used to create an original floor or a spectacular feature wall. Avorio is part of our Concrete-effect Collection.

Shade Tone Variance
Avorio – Natural has been classified:
Understanding Shade Tone Variance

Shade, texture and tone can vary from piece to piece within a single tile production run. V1 shade tone variation has little or no change from piece to piece where a V4 might have a substantial variety of shade, texture and tone variation.
Variance Rating | Description |
---|---|
V1 | Uniform Appearance |
V2 | Slight Variation |
V3 | Moderate Variation |
V4 | Substantial Variation |
Pendulum Test Values (BS 7976-2)
Finish | Conditions | Result | Slip Potential |
---|---|---|---|
Natural | Dry | 64 | |
Natural | Wet | 45 |
Understanding Pendulum Data
The HSE Approved Pendulum Test accurately replicates the Dynamical Coefficient of Friction (COF) or 'Heel Slip' on floor surfaces and is designed to replicate a pedestrian heel strike, the point at which most slips occur.
The pendulum test readings obtained are referred to as either the Slip Resistance Value (SRV) or Pendulum Test Value (PTV). When the test is operated properly, the PTV should be interpreted as shown in the table below. This table relates to pedestrians walking in a straight line on a level surface. It can be used to accurately test the slip potential on dry or contaminated floors.
PTV | Slip Potential |
---|---|
0 - 24 | High |
25 - 35 | Moderate |
36 + | Low |
See British Standard BS 7976-2 for more information on conducting Floor Pendulum Testing on pedestrian surfaces. Pendulum Test Certificate available on request.
Ramp Test Values (DIN 51130)
Finish/Style | R Rating Value | Friction |
---|---|---|
Grip, Structured | R11 | Good |
Natural | R10 | Normal |
Understanding Ramp Test Data
DIN Standard Ramp Testing (DIN 51130) is an alternative to Pendulum Testing and generally categorised as an 'off-site' activity because of the size and complexity of the equipment required to carry out the test. The Slip Resistance Values (RSV) are factory gate values (based on supplied tiles) and categorised using the Ramp Test (DIN 51130) method which is commonly used by European factories. In this method, a lubricated inclined platform is adjusted to a gradually increasing gradient, and the angle is measured at which a person walking on it slips.
We have deliberately not included the ramp test angles on this page as this information can be confused with the angle that a floor may be safely set to, which is incorrect. The shod test results are quoted as an R Rating value from R9 to R13, which relates to the ramp angle.
R Rating Value | Friction |
---|---|
R9 | Minimal |
R10 | Normal |
R11 | Good |
R12 | Good |
R13 | Very high |
See the Health and Safety Executives website for more information regarding the Ramp Test procedure. Ramp Test Certificate available on request.
